The Dawn Guards were an assault 'Mech regiment, manned by Republic volunteers with ancestral ties to the Federated Suns.[3]

History[edit]

The Dawn Guards was an assault regiment created by the Republic of the Sphere Exarch Devlin Stone, in 3146. As part of his alliance with the Federated Suns First Prince Julian Davion, Stone created the regiment choosing soldiers from the RAF all with ancestral ties to the Suns. All were volunteers to became part of the Federated Suns' armed forces, and were gifted to Julian.[4]

The Guards became the core of Task Force Panoply, which, led by Julian, sowed chaos in the Capellan Confederation. The 7 June they raided Acamar, facing the First Canopian Lancers, destroying all military targets they found before departing, without losses. Later they repeated the process on Ningpo, to later jump on Marlette, where they delivered a crushing defeat to a Capellan invasion force led by Danai Centrella-Liao.[5]

On 3147, the Guards participated in Operation CERBERUS, fighting on Hobson a long battle against the Capellan House Kamata, before driving them away. They later fought in Taygeta, and New Syrtis, and helped defend the planet against the Capellan counterattack, a year later, where they fought hard, saving Julian from death.[6]

On 3149, the Guards participated on Operation PERCEVAL, send by Julian Davion to attack the Dragon's Tongue world of O'Fallon. After fighting there the Wolf's Dragoons Wolfsbane Battalion, in a short but decisive battle, they forced the mercenaries to depart, returning the planet to the Suns.[7]
