The purpose of [[Battle of Mars (3067)|Taskforce Vengeance]] was to make the Blakists pay for their treachery. All of the ships of the Taskforce, along with most of the troops they were carrying, were destroyed before making planetfall. Only some elements of Zeta Battalion would make it to the surface, and they would land scattered with heavy damage.
