===Death and Legacy===

Hoping to have a large enough force by the end of 3058 to overthrow the self-styled Emperor, Nikolai and his brother had underestimated "Bud" Baranov who was aware of their presence on Hall and the threat represented by the twin sons of his former Commander. Baranov skilfully cultivated an atmosphere of mistrust between the brothers by playing on their fears and in short order the "Idiot Twins" as Baranov called them were at each other's throats. The disappearance of Nikolai forced his brother Yuri to flee Hall for [[Solaris VII]], abandoning any hopes of a revived Tikonov Free Republic.<ref name=KPp15/>
