Originally known as '''EC3057-J83A''', '''Mundo Nublar''' ("Cloud World") was the site of a [[:Category:Capital Weapons|naval weaponry]] testing facility utilized by both the [[Star League]] and the [[Word of Blake]].

==Overview==
A semi-habitable planet orbiting a red dwarf star a few jumps [[anti-spinward]] of the [[Chainelane Isles]], Mundo Nublar has a 16-[[Terra]]n-day day/night cycle from being tidally locked toward a midsize brown dwarf, that brown dwarf giving it the extra warmth required to make it viable for terrestrial life. The slightly ellipsoidal shaped world has extensive cloud cover and frequently suffers heavy storms, prompting its Blakist renaming, but also hampering efforts to undertake agriculture on the surface.<ref name=ISP3-24/>

During the [[Star League era]], the planet (then named EC3057-J83A) played host to an [[SLDF]] naval weapons testing facility established in [[2723]], with research labs located on the surface of the planet as well as limited shipyards in orbit. Located far outside the range of House intelligence efforts, the facility served as the test-site for the development of weaponized [[Mass Driver]]s, the weapons reaching the operational stage aboard a refitted ''[[Kimagure]]''-class [[WarShip]] by the [[2750]]s. Due to the limited nature of the shipyard facilities and modest improvements upon existing naval weaponry, [[General]] [[Aleksandr Kerensky]] would order the facility shut down and that its personnel relocate to the Gabriel facility in [[2770]] during the [[Amaris Coup]].<ref name=ISP3-24/>

The Word of Blake discovered the existence of EC3057-J83A while reviewing the SLDF archives at the [[Ruins of Gabriel]], sending the ''[[Newgrange]]''-class [[Erinyes (Individual WarShip)|''Erinyes'']] [[yardship]] to investigate after the records strongly suggested that several half-disassembled WarShips had been abandoned there. Whether the Word recovered those WarShips is unknown, but by [[3065]] the Blakists were refitting the ''Erinyes'' with mass drivers. Disappointed with the effectiveness of these weapons, the Word would explore other "kinetic attack modes" at Mundo Nublar under the codename of Project Erinyes, ultimately resulting the asteroid bombardment techniques utilized by the Blakists at [[Taurus]] and [[Lopez]].<ref name=ISP3-24/>

The weapon tests of these systems would be unleashed upon Mundo Nublar, with kilometer scale asteroids landing in the planet's oceans triggering massively powerful and sustained worldwide hurricanes, and large volumes of particulate matter being blown into the atmosphere after ground strikes. As the [[Jihad]] turned against the Word, the final weapons tests would be used to cover the Blakists' tracks, obliterating both the planetary and orbital facilities.<ref name=ISP3-24/>

[[Interstellar Expeditions]] would learn of Mundo Nublar's location from the database at the Ruins of Gabriel after that facility was briefly captured by [[Chandrasekhar Kurita]]'s taskforce in [[3074]]. An IE scout mission reached the system in [[3077]] long after the Blakists had abandoned the system, the debris of the orbital facilities sufficiently intact to provide the organization with sizable details as to the system's past operations.<ref name=ISP3-24/>
