On the evening of the 15th of October 3056, the Caballeros and the main HTE compound in Masamori, the capital city of Hachiman, came under attack from the Word of Blake, who were responding to false rumors circulated at the instruction of Ninyu Kerai Indrahar, the senior Internal Security Force officer on Hachiman. Those rumors suggested that HTE had made a breakthrough in faster-than-light communications, and were deliberately intended to draw the ire of the Blakists, so that Ninyu could use the terrorist attack to infiltrate DEST commandos into the complex. This was a part of efforts on the part of Ninyu and his adoptive father, Subhash Indrahar, the ISF Director, to prove that Chandrasekhar Kurita was engaged in illegal and treasonous activities involving the Clans. During the attack, Lucy and a score of the Caballeros' other children were being sheltered in the compound infirmary, accompanied by two HTE security guards, the Federated Commonwealth news reporter Archie Westin, Westin's assistant and camerawoman Mariska Savage, the MechWarrior Lieutenant Senior Grade Diana Vásquez and the Caballeros' chief Astech, Master Sergeant Richard "Zuma" Gallegos when two DEST troopers disguised as HTE security personnel entered the infirmary and took the group hostage, killing both of the security staff already present.

During the attack, Lucy and a score of the Caballero's other children were being sheltered in the compound infirmary, accompanied by two HTE security guards, the Federated Commonwealth news reporter Archie Westin, Westin's assistant and camerawoman Mariska Savage, the MechWarrior Lieutenant Senior Grade Diana Vásquez and the Caballero's chief Astech, Master Sergeant Richard "Zuma" Gallegos when two DEST troopers disguised as HTE security personnel entered the infirmary and took the group hostage, killing both of the security staff already present.

The DEST commando operation against the compound was going poorly, as a result of their infiltration efforts being uncovered, and the two DEST troopers in the infirmary were attempting to use the children as hostages in some form of threat or negotiation; however their efforts were unsuccessful, as one DEST commando was distracted by Archie before being shot repeatedly by Zuma, whilst the second trooper held Lucy at gunpoint, only to be killed in turn by Diana. The entire incident was recorded by Mariska, and both Federated Commonwealth personnel were aghast that the two Caballeros had been willing to risk the children's safety; it was subsequently explained that the Caballeros operated a strict policy of never negotiating in such hostage situations, and that if Zuma and Diana hadn't taken the risk, the regiment would most likely have killed everyone in the infirmary rather than acquiesce to any of the DEST demands. Lucy escaped being taken hostage without any injuries.
