==History==
On 10 September [[3144]], Daniel was in a class on [[Quarell]] when a new [[Freeborn]] cadet was included. He showed a great hostility towards the young [[Alexis Zarnofsky]], mocking her so much than even his ''Ursari'' had to reprimand him, though she never contradict him.<ref>''Ghostbird''</ref>

The 7 July [[3151]], Alexis led her Star, piloting a [[Bear Cub]] training 'Mech into a simulated battle against a [[Kodiak]] piloted by Daniel, distracting him to allow Thomasin and Sophie to attack his back. The strategy succeeded. After the exercise, Daniel was chastised by his defeat. Later, all cadets participated into the Vote Day, to decide if the Dominion joined the [[Star League]].<ref>''A Question of Survival'' ch. 3</ref>

In another training exercise, under the rain, Alexis didn't jump into the fight as everybody, but stay away until she knew how to reach the target, a flag, delivering it to the Den Mother Ivankova, but then, Daniel pushed her by her back, making her fall into the mud, and the Den Mother prevented Alexis to punish him.
The 12 September, Daniel attempted to frame Alexis placing his codex into her  footlocker, but only managed to get both punished. After Alexis was released, a day later, Thomasin knocked him out for what he had done.<ref>''A Question of Survival'' ch. 8-10</ref>

The 10 October, a great cross-training series of exercices began on Quarell, and Alexis was choosen by Star Commander Diego to led their group, to Daniel's surprise, as he was the Bear Cub's favorite. Alexis' strategy almost led her ''sibko'' top victory, with Daniel, being the only giving problems, and the victory wasn't achieved only for his fault.<ref>''A Question of Survival'' ch. 16</ref>

The next exercise, the 26 October, was an infiltration one in a delta. Once again, Daniel refused to obey her orders, and took several sibkins. Alexis took the rest and won the exercise using cunning tactics, winning easily, while Daniel only managed to make his followers all captured soon.
The 6 November, their sibko faced another field exercise, these piloting real 'Mechs. Their mission was to protect a town, Feldspar, against an attack. Alexis prepared a solid defense plan... but Daniel's disobedience, leading his own [[Star]] as he wanted, made harder the defense, which resulted and both forces having the same points, but the question remained unsolved, as a group of [[Clan Jade Falcon Remnants]] led by Khan [[Jiyi Chistu]] arrived on system, declaring a [[Trial of Possession]] for all cadets participating on exercices.<ref>''A Question of Survival'' ch. 18-22</ref>

Alexis and her friends didn't want to be taken, and for once Daniel was with them, so they enlisted his help to allow her to escape and attempt to declare a [[Trial of Refusal]] against the Trial of Possession, but Colonel [[Emilio Hall]] didn't acknowledge their Trial. All involved cadets were arrested and washed out from the Clan, with all insignias taken off, which hurt specially Alexis and Daniel.<ref>''A Question of Survival'' ch. 30</ref>

The 8 November, all cadets were delivered to the Falcons. When Thomasin and Daniel resisted, they were separated from the rest. Alexis worried about them, but Star Commander [[Dawn (Clan Jade Falcon)]] reassured her saying they will be ok.<ref>''A Question of Survival'' ch. 36</ref>

Daniel and Thomasin, unharmed, were released once arrived to [[Sudeten]], reuniting with Alexis.<ref>''A Question of Survival'' Epilogue</ref>

Dawn assisted, the 9 January, Daniel fought his [[Trial of Position]] in a simulator. His 'Mech, a ''[[Savage Wolf]]'' faced a ''[[Gyrfalcon]]'', and Daniel proved to be mediocre, as he charged it frontally. Despite his enemy giving him every chance, none of his ''sibkins'' believed he could won, though he did it, barely before being ''killed''. After emerging from the simulator, Dawn congratulated him, though also said he should have done better. Later, when Alexis won the rank of [[Star Commander]], he congratulated her, telling her than he knew she would do it, despite having said all times before than she will never be a warrior.<ref>''Ghostbird''</ref>
