About Me[edit]
Hello! My name is Mario Lara and I'm just a random (new) BattleTech Wiki editor. I'm currently living in Orlando, Florida, USA, and working at a telecom, whose name shall remains anonymous to protect the not-so-innocent.
I've been involved with BattleTech for about twenty years now. I started when I picked up Michael Stackpole's Lethal Heritage. I finished the book in a day and went back to the bookstore to pick up the other two immediately afterwards. =)
Around the same time MechWarrior 2 was also released on the PC, and I immediately picked it up, easily becoming one of my most favorite games of all time. By then I was hooked.
I didn't really get into playing the board game until the late '90s, as by then I was finally out of school and working and could afford my hobby. My miniatures collection started shortly thereafter, and right now I'm glad to report that I have a rather nice collection of almost two hundred miniatures, with more to come. My next project will be to create terrain and buildings so that I can use to play my miniatures on with my son, himself a new BattleTech fan.
In addition, I am part of the Lords of the Battlefield community for quite some time now. Along with a few other members of the site, I belong to a newly created (As of September 2010) Greater Orlando Area BattleTech Gaming group. We've been playing about once a month since September of 2010, running a mercenary unit campaign, the unit being "Dan's Demolishers". I hope to write and post some fan fiction about the unit, based on our gaming exploits. =)
My other hobby is to code up PHP stuff and combine them with a MySQL server, and I've been working on a BattleTech Mercenary Contract and Unit Generator/Editor that can be freely used on the 'net. I'm still in Alpha, but I'm making steady progress. As soon as I'm ready for a beta I'll advise. I've also been toying with programming for the Android mobile platform and I'm toying with the idea of creating a game aid for the platform to help in BattleTech gaming.
Feel free to leave a note!
