Description[edit]

The Scapha Hovertank is a thirty-second century Hover OmniVehicle which was originally exclusively produced for the Armed Forces of the Republic of the Sphere. Built by Grumman Industries on Terra in 3123, the Scapha was designed with the best technologies of its time. It would go on to serve in multiple roles in the RAF due to its flexibility and firepower.

The design was highly popular in the service of the RAF well into the fall of most the Republic's Prefectures to invading forces after 3132. While part of many Republic Standing Guard units, the Scapha was noted for delaying the fall of many Republic worlds.[4]

Weapons and Equipment[edit]

Designed as a fast and flexible tank, the Scapha is powered by a Strand 265-rated extra-extralight fusion engine, giving excess speed. Despite the cost of the engine and its bulkiness, the Scapha has thirteen tons of pod space for weapons and equipment. Protecting its armored hide is 7.5 tons of Grumman CRR Reflective Armor which dampens the damage caused by energy weapons.

The vehicle's Primary Configuration is designed for both reconnaissance and electronic warfare. Mounted in its Pod space for this role is an Angel ECM Suite and a Bloodhound Probe. The vehicle's speed is increased thanks to the addition of a supercharger, allowing it to reach speeds upwards of 220 km/h. The Scapha's firepower comes from a pair of turret-mounted Light PPCs guided by a Targeting Computer.[5]

Alternate Configurations[edit]

  • Alternate Configuration A
Despite it being only armed with a singular weapon, the A Configuration's firepower is considerable. Mounted in the vehicle's turret is a single RAC/5, which is fed by 3 tons of ammunition. BV(2.0)=1,399[6][7][8]
  • Alternate Configuration B
A long-reaching sniper unit, the B has one Light Gauss Rifle with a single ton of ammunition. BV(2.0)=984[9][10][11]
  • Alternate Configuration C
Another Autocannon based configuration, the C is can be cast in a role against infantry forces and vehicles. Mounted in its turret is an LB-10X AC with two tons of ammunition. BV(2.0)=1,002[12][13][14]
  • Alternate Configuration D
The D is designed to attack units at close range, while being able to serve as a spotter for missile units. For this role, the Scapha mounts an iNarc launcher in the turret with eight rounds of fire. The configuration's main offensive weapon is a Snub-Nose Particle Projection Cannon mounted in the turret. BV(2.0)=1,141[15][16][17]
  • Alternate Configuration F
A medium-range fighter and spotter, the F Configuration mounts a basic AC/5 guided by a Targeting Computer. The vehicle carries two tons worth of ammunition for the weapon, allowing carrying different ammo types. A TAG unit allows it act as spotter for artillery and units using semi-guided LRM launchers. BV(2.0)=794[21][22][23]
  • Alternate Configuration G
The G configuration is designed as long-range sniper, and can serve as spotter for a C3 Network. Its main weapons are pair of Light AC/2 mounted in its turret. The autocannons are guided by a Targeting Computer and are fed by two tons of ammunition which can be loaded with different ammo types. Also mounted in this configuration is a C3 slave unit. BV(2.0)=736[24][25][26]
  • Alternate Configuration H
A powerful intermediate combatant, the H configuration mounts a C3 slave unit and two Medium Variable-Speed Pulse Lasers in its turret. To help the vehicle cope with its extra weapon heat, Scapha has also been fitted with four additional heat sinks. VBV(2.0)=811[27][28][29]
  • Alternate Configuration I
This configuration can allow the Scapha to serve either as a command vehicle in a C3 Network or as capture unit. The I Configuration's only weapon is a TSEMP Cannon that is found in its turret. At the heart of the vehicle lies a C3 master computer. BV(2.0)=2,096[30][31][32]
  • Alternate Configuration J
The J configuration provides the Scapha with arguably its most unique feature among its array of alternate configurations. Intended as a close-range fighter, the J is fitted with an Guardian ECM Suite and three Medium Pulse Lasers in its turret. Configuration most noted feature is presence of 7 Jump Jets, making it first successful OmniVehicle to mount this equipment. BV(2.0)=1,047[33][34][35]
