Salazar Tsakalotos was an independent mercenary who worked for the Word of Blake during to the Jihad.[2]

History[edit]

He was born on Chesterton, first son of billionaire bachelor Bertrand Tsakalotos.[1]

His father's autobiography hinted a very dysfunctional relationship between them, that his father blamed Salazar's idiot friends in general and more specifically with Jonas Eccles, a small-time mercenary commander who befriended him, presumably because of his family fortune. If true, this scheme backfired as he disowned his son when he left at the age of fifteen to pursue a career as a mercenary.

Not much is known of his early years as a mercenary except that he drifted from several minor commands with little distinction, until he was made a sort of star when his unit, the Bad Tenants raided a Clan Steel Viper world.

He was then spotted in the Chaos March during the 3060s, at least serving once the Federated Commonwealth on Arboris, and even once logging a stint with the AMC as a subcontractor.

He was one the first batch of mercenaries retained by the Word of Blake to support their efforts there. He participated in operations on Bryant, Ingress and Keid, as well as numerous bandit-hunting missions in uninhabited systems, or remote areas of inhabited systems. He commanded several small lance-sized mercenary forces, disbanding them as they were smashed, and forming new ones with survivors from other small outfits.

All his whereabouts and activities during the Jihad cannot be confirmed, but Republic of the Sphere intelligence pointed him operating on many Word of Blake Protectorate worlds as a minor enforcer.

By 3085 he was operating as a solitary contractor.[2]

Personality[edit]

Throughout his career, he was known to operate as a true mercenary, fighting for coin over politics.[2]

BattleMech[edit]

He piloted a custom TDR-10M Thunderbolt Salazar.[2]
