Description[edit]

The Hong Lung-class Interdiction Station is a class of Space Stations built on the orders of Chancellor Maximilian Liao to defend the penal moon of Brazen Heart. The Chancellor ordered the construction of eight such stations in 3022, with the first prototype becoming operational above the moon's northern pole in 3024 and three more completed by the start of the Fourth Succession War. Construction halted with the secession of the St. Ives Compact and the completed stations mothballed when the penal colony was closed in the 3030s. Three of the stations had survived by the time St. Ives was brought back under Confederation control and were reactivated by the Maskirovka, with plans made to restart production of upgraded Hong Lungs for use as orbital defense platforms.[2]

Weapons and Equipment[edit]

Based on outdated capital system defense stations from the Star League era, the Hong Lung-class is designed to disable and capture any commandeered ship trying to escape from Brazen Heart. Each firing arc contains an identical weapons arrangement: a quad-mounted PPC battery supported by missile batteries for long-range interdiction, with banks of medium lasers for close-in defense. Once a craft has been disabled, a pair of assault shuttles would transport a full company of marines to secure the vessel and return the escaping convicts to their rightful place. Each Hong Lung carried 60 tons of armor spaced evenly across its spherical hull, as well as 16 tons of LRM reloads and 79 heat sinks. In total, the design team responsible for the Hong Lung expected the station to be a match for a military-grade Union-class DropShip.[2]

Cargo[edit]

  • Bay 2: cargo bay (152 tons) - 1 door
