ClassMonarch

The Baroness was a Monarch-class passenger DropShip.

Canonicity[edit]

The Baroness only features in the German novel Gier which, being a German-language publication that was not translated into English so far, does not meet the current criteria for canonical BattleTech products and must thus be considered apocryphal. As a consequence, the Baroness and all information about it are apocryphal as well.

History[edit]

Richard Humphreys traveled to Canopus aboard the JumpShip Rana, to which the Baroness was docked when it jumped to the nadir jump point of the Canopus system on 13 September 3029. It was implied that Humphreys had arrived at the Rana aboard the Baroness; in any case, he elected to book a cabin on the JumpShip to evade attention to his person aboard the Baroness.

Upon materializing, the Rana immediately collided with another JumpShip, the Invader-class Diver. Although both JumpShips were fused together and (at least) three techs aboard the Rana were killed, Richard Humphreys saved the day by suggesting using the Baroness' attitude thrusters to impart thrust on the stricken Rana and counter the drift that threatened to break both JumpShips apart.[1]

He subsequently spent a week traveling to Canopus IV aboard the Baroness.[2]
